3 minute readDoes End-of-Life Really Mean The End for Your Storage Infrastructure?
Manufacturers will deem a generation of product End-of-Life (EOL) after a period of about 3 years or so, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to feel pressured into upgrading to the latest technology. You don’t have to spend the immense amount of money on brand new equipment just because your manufacturer says “you have to.” In reality, you have another option that can help you save significantly on your IT budget – continue upgrading your existing technology through a third-party that provides upgrades and maintenance.
More Options than just the OEM
The original equipment manufacturer (OEM) will have you believe that, because they no longer carry the parts or support systems that are EOL or EOSL (end of service life), you must upgrade on their timeline. That is simply not the case. You don’t have to feel pushed around by the manufacturer into an upgrade that you don’t need or want.
End of Life is Not the End
Having support and parts available for your legacy and older storage systems from third-party providers can keep your systems running effectively far after the OEM declares them EOL. However, it is important to keep in mind that there will be a balance between finding the significant savings with maintaining and upgrading older equipment and when the price begins to level off and no longer provides those savings. Eventually, the price of parts and maintenance for those older systems will rise, and the savings go away.
What a third-party provider such as Reliant Technology can provide is the in-depth product knowledge to know how to help you save. Other providers may be able to help you save money, but it is important to find the right partner to make sure that the equipment you are receiving is up to the highest standard.
We will work closely with you in order to develop a deep understanding of what your specific requirements are in a project and make sure that your storage infrastructure runs smoothly for as long as it is cost effective for you to continue to upgrade these End—of-Life systems. Just remember, that a manufacturer does not have to tell you when your equipment needs to be upgraded. End-of-life is not the end.
