2 minute readEMC World 2016 Recap: 3 Key Highlights
Yet another year of EMC World has come to a close. Every year thousands of EMC customers and partners gather to hear the data industry’s biggest names preview upcoming products and IT industry trends.
The overall theme of EMC World 2016 was “Modernize Your Data Center”, but this year was particularly interesting due to the recent news of the Dell/EMC Merger. So what were the key highlights from EMC World 2016?
Monday’s keynote at EMC World set the tone with EMC CEO, Joe Tucci saying goodbye and passing the baton to Dell CEO, Michael Dell. Although the Dell/EMC deal has not been completely finalized, the guest appearance from Michael Dell proved to be one of the key takeaways for the industry.
This is when it was announced that the new conglomerate would go forward as Dell Technologies. We’re excited to see how EMC’s hardware and software lines will fit into the overall Dell structure after the keynote offered a detailed look into the future of EMC.
Upcoming Products and New Technologies
EMC World 2016 also gave us various new product announcements. The general consensus among our team was “Flash is king”. EMC unveiled the Unity All-Flash storage line which targets small-to-medium businesses.
This new product line proves that flash storage isn’t going anywhere, and is in high demand. The Dell/EMC merger will allow EMC to focus on all aspects of the IT market with the new conglomerate honing in on cloud, flash, and software defined storage options.
