3 minute readWhat Do I Do When My Data Center Support Is Ending?
When was the last time you were caught off guard because your server, network or storage system support was coming due? Who did you buy this equipment from? How long will it take to activate coverage?
It’s easy for a lapse of coverage to send us into a panic.
You may only have a short window of time to negotiate, procure, and get approved by company management, and before you know it your contract is up.
When support ends, you have two viable options: sign another long term contract with the OEM or choose to get support from a Third Party Maintenance provider.
What is Third Party Maintenance?
TPM is a more cost effective approach to data center maintenance, extending the life of your hardware. Most hardware is still viable past its EOL or EOSL dates but OEMs no longer offer coverage. This is where a TPM steps in. TPMs offer coverage that OEMs don’t because they want you to stop using old hardware and upgrade to the latest technology.
How Does Third Party Maintenance Work?
A TPM contract works very similarly as an OEM contract but is more cost effective, typically 50% less than manufacturer.
TPM contracts can be easily incorporated into your business. Right when your OEM support ends, your TPM contract begins so there is never a moment you aren’t covered. The TPM contract picks up right where the OEM maintenance contract leaves off.
Unlike the technicians at OEMs, who are familiar only with the products sold by their company, the engineers at Reliant Technology are familiar with a range of enterprise-grade IT hardware, such as the solutions offered by Dell EMC, HPE, Sun Oracle, and IBM.
What are Hardware Families?
Each OEM has their own product families for different use cases or generations of products. As an example Dell EMC has VNX, VNXe, Unity, VMAX, Data Domain, Isilon, PowerVault, SC Series families as well as EMC legacy Clariion, Celerra, Connectrix and Centerra products.
As an industry leading third party maintenance provider, Reliant Technology offers support on over 95 product families across all major OEMs. No matter the hardware that you operate, our experts can easily support and maintain your data center to make sure everything runs smoothly.
