A 20-year study recently published in Science magazine says global data storage capacity is doubling every two to three years!
And with 295 exabytes of storage capacity in 2007, the world’s data is calculated to reach 600 exabytes this year.
So, where is all this data stored? If you live in Atlanta, Chicago, Phoenix, or San Antonio, you may be close to one of the largest data centers on Earth.
The world’s biggest data center is located in Chicago, IL, and spans over one million square feet. Data centers in Georgia, Florida, and in Europe all top the list of giant data centers with more than 700,000 square feet.
Is your hometown a host for the 600 exabytes of data stored worldwide? The answer might surprise you. Check out this infographic by Mozy to find out.
