According to the latest reports from the IDC, EMC storage is the number one choice worldwide for data storage in mission critical environments.
The IDC study evaluates customer hardware preferences for environments running Oracle, Microsoft Exchange, Sharepoint, SAP, as well as other widely -used industry industry-specific applications.
Evaluating deployment patterns with these common applications, the IDC concluded that more customers choose EMC storage than any other storage vendor for their mission-critical data storage environments.
EMC Storage Ranks #1 for Mission Critical Environments
Receiving the top rank almost every category, EMC storage appears to be the top choice for mission-critical storage across the board. The number one choice in both Spring 2011 and Fall 2011 surveys, EMC storage hardware was awarded the top rank in customer preference for the second consecutive report.
NetApp closely followed EMC’s performance and ranked second in customer preference in all but two survey categories. HP, Hitachi, and IBM storage hardware were ranked in the top five consumer preferences for mission-critical storage hardware.
IDC Survey Evaluates Worldwide Preferences
Surveying over 1000 respondents worldwide, the IDC’s Storage Users Demand survey examines user preferences for certain brands based on specific enterprise applications.
The IDC survey includes 19 difference industries in 15 different countries. The IDC also includes a variety of business sizes ranging from enterprises of 50 to enterprises of over 10,000 employees. The survey is given every 6 months to evaluate changing customer sentiment, influences and preferences.
